Today I am working on a product photoshoot for a client’s Shopify account. They sell houseplants online and ship nationwide. I had so much to prepare. When preparing for a product photoshoot I like to learn about what it is that I am photographing.
I investigated the competition to see what they’re doing and I also looked on the company’s website that I’m going to be using these photos for. Each plant that I photographed had to be cleaned and wiped down.
I used plant shield and shine to brighten up the leaves of the houseplant. This was a game changer and really made a big difference in the overall appearance of the plants. I also took my time and cleaned all the plant pots as well. There was lots of soil and it was messy. Once I felt that the plant was ready for its close up I began. The biggest challenge was getting them to look perfectly clean and tidy. I wanted them to look like they came from Bloomingdales.
Getting the right angle matters and also being able to capture the product so that it is appealing and attractive to the potential buyer is key. Plants are so much fun to photograph and was able to get the right shots for the shoot and I uploaded the images on the client’s Shopify store.
I’m so glad that they were delighted with the end result. Here are a few of my favs. You may watch the time lapse video by visiting my Instagram page as well.
